Historical review of the Hotel Trapp Family
Trapp Family Hotel is the closest hotel to the famous Monteverde Reserve. It was inaugurated in 1999, with its first building that had ten rooms and the restaurant. Trapp Family Hotel was founded by a Chilean who came to Monteverde more than 20 years ago to work with relatives who have another hotel in the area.
By 1999, in the Monteverde area there was already a varied offer of lodging and restaurants, so from the beginning the policy of Trapp Family Hotel was to differentiate itself with a specialized and familiar service so that the guest always feels at home.
In its beginnings the hotel was successful and the decision was made to build a third floor in the same building which would have 18 rooms. The wooden chalet-type architecture was designed by the owner in order to maintain the warm atmosphere of the mountain.
In response to the growth of guests at the hotel and to have a slightly more luxurious room option, in 2003 the second building was built, which consists of 8 Mountain Suite rooms. Being built high up, they have a spectacular view of the Monteverde mountains. The last construction is done in 2010 of the last four Mountain Suites.
Over the years it has been improving in infrastructure and service, but always under the same concept of a family business and in harmony with nature.
